Liturgy: Psalms

The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it. (Psalm 24, 1)

Every part of this earth is sacred.
Whatever befalls the earth
befalls the children of the earth.

This we know, the earth does not belong to us:
we belong to the earth.

This we know, all things are connected:
like the blood which unites one family.

This we know, whatever we do to the web:
we do to ourselves.

With you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.

Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens;
your faithfulness to the clouds.
With you is the fountain of life.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your judgements are like the great deep;
you save humans and animals alike, O Lord.

How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
All people take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
With you is the fountain of life.

They feast on the abundance of your house;
and you give them to drink from the river of your delights.

Bless the Lord, O my soul.
O Lord, my God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honour and majesty,
wrapped in light as with a garment.

Die Erde ist des Herrn und was darinnen ist,
der Erdkreis und die darauf wohnen. (Psalm 24,1)

Jeder Teil dieser Erde ist heilig.
Was immer der Erde widerfährt,
geschieht den Kindern der Erde.
Das wissen wir, die Erde gehört nicht uns:
wir gehören zur Erde.

Das wissen wir, alles ist miteinander verbunden:
wie das Blut, das eine Familie verbindet.

Denn wir haben das Netz des Lebens nicht gewebt:
wir sind nur ein Faden darin.

Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele!
Herr, mein Gott, wie gross bist du!
Du bist mit Hoheit und Pracht bekleidet.
Du hüllst dich in Licht wie ein Kleid.

Du spannst den Himmel aus wie ein Zelt
Du verankerst die Balken deiner Wohnung im Wasser
Du hast die Erde auf Pfeilern gegrülndet;
in alle Ewigkeit wird sie nicht wanken.

Du lässt die Quellen hervorsprudeln in den Tällern.
