The Church of England has recently launched a seven-year plan on climate change and the environment, Church and Earth setting out its basis for environmental action, the environmental record of the church, challenges for future church action.
Church and Earth challenges the Church of England to cut its carbon footprint by 42&percent; by 2020, achieved through cuts of at least 5&percent; each year.
This will be achieved by energy efficiency measures in church buildings, environmental policies and processes in every diocese, education of young people, lifestyle campaigns, partnerships with relevant community organisations, clergy training, and annual creation time celebrations in all dioceses.
The report can be downloaded in summary (pdf, 420kb) or in full (pdf, 1.7MB).
