Water was a theme of the 4th ECEN Assembly in Volos (Greece) in 2003.  Responsible use of water constitutes in many ways a test for commitment to the cause of a sustainable future.

The following texts summarise the outcomes of the Assembly.The scope of the dossier, however, goes wider than this. It is a reminder of the irreplaceable role of water in our lives, of problems which we need to face in our dealing with water and also a recollection of the very specific functions which water has, from the practical to the symbolic and the liturgical.
