Roman Juriga Eco-Church Award 2020

Following the successful launching of the Roman Juriga Award for inspirational innovation in church environmental projects in 2017 and awarding the price to the winners in the ECEN Assembly 2018, ECEN is launching a new round of the Roman Juriga Award. The Award has been introduced in memory of the founding member of ECEN Roman Juriga.

The Award aims to recognise positive achievements and seeks to support projects that display creative solutions to environmental challenges through European churches. ECEN wishes to identify and support people and projects that display vision, courage and conviction as they take on their individual challenges that will improve the lives of people, or seek to protect the world’s natural and cultural heritage as part of the whole Creation. This includes notable efforts that are making church buildings greener, innovative ways to save or generate energy, either by adapting existing buildings or in new builds to reduce draughts, retain heat, or take advantage of natural daylight, local achievements in reducing the carbon footprint of a church, congregation or other community, or promoting biodiversity and wildlife conservation.

The Award is accompanied by the amount 2 000 € allocated for winner(s), by a plaque and certificate.

ECEN invites representatives of church projects from all over the continent which fits criteria of the Award to apply. Applications are accepted from church related community projects, churches and ecumenical initiatives, with a preference given to local engagement and impact, and to projects supporting ecumenical cooperation.

Deadline for submissions is 31 September 2019. The winners will be announced and decorated in the ECEN Assembly which will take place from 29 August – 2 September in 2020 in Bad Herrenalb (Germany).

Application forms and criteria are downloadable from the ECEN website: www.ecen.org. Filled applications should be sent to pptatcec-kek [dot] be (ECEN secretary).
