ECEN Enabling team decided on the Roman Juriga Eco-Church Award

Winner of Roman Juriga Award 2018 is an ecumenical project of churches in Hungary the Plant Native Fruit Trees in Parsonages. ECEN decided to award a certificate as well the Islington Sustainable Church Building Project (UK) and the Cowal Church Energy Project (UK).

 Peter Pavlovic, Secretary of ECEN expressed thanks to the participating projects and said: ‘ECEN appreciates all submitted projects, as an expression of the growing interest of churches in Europe in taking concrete and active steps in care for creation. We appreciate as well the interest to participate at the competition in memory of Roman Juriga, who in many ways set an example in guiding and managing churches’ projects and inspired many followers through his work.’  

Roman Juriga Award has been established by ECEN in order to support best practices and inspirational innovations in churches’ projects on using renewable energies and energy saving methods.

The Plant Native Fruit Trees in Parsonages has been awarded in particular for its innovative and ecumenical character.

The award will be officially presented at the ECEN Assembly in Katowice, 6-10 October 2018.
