Panel addresses economic and climate injustice

Churches, Council for World Mission, and Lutheran World Federation brought together the panel, composed of 13 experts in finance, economics, sociology and theology.

Athena Peralta, WCC programme executive for the Economy of Life at WCC, explained the WCC’s involvement in the effort. “For WCC, NIFEA is a key priority,”she said. “Our two pillars are economy for life and ecological justice, so NIFEA is at the center of the work we are doing.”

The panel reviewed its tasks, identified signs of economic and climatic injustice, set priority actions, made new alliances, updated the NIFEA plan and, together, made a deepened commitment to build a world that better resembles God’s true kingdom.
