Let us be gathered in prayer for the life and the climate
of our common home;
this blue planet which we call Earth.

Heavenly Father,
Yours is the garden: Yours the earth;
Yours: every living being.
Today we come to You with our grief and repentance,
But also with our hopes and dreams.

Our Father who is in heaven!

We, who are living in countries rich in material ways, confess
that our lifestyle is violating your Creation.
We confess that we use much more
than our share of the resources of the world.
We confess that our way of living
makes greenhouse gasses in a scale
which is a threat to the stability
of every living being on this earth.
We confess that we have been choosing politicians
who have has allowed us to do this.

But now we know, we know what we are doing.
And we are afraid of the future,
we are afraid for our children
and we are afraid for our souls.
We want to change our lifestyle but this is not easy;
we need our politicians to direct us into a new way of living;
a lifestyle which diminishes the threat to our climate.
But we do not know how to get them to listen.

You who gave us life,
we ask for Your forgiveness
and for Your guidance into a better life.

Jesus Christ our brother and saviour;
We come to you with our needs,
we come to you with our prayers.
For many of us are suffering
as a result of the human caused threat to the earth’s climate.

Many of us live in hunger,
Many of us do not have clean water,
Many of us have lost our homes.
And much of this because of the already changing climate.

We ask You Lord:
give us the strength to stand up;
let our voices be heard
by those who have the
power and the possibility to
stop the destruction of the biosphere.

For the sake of the people who are suffering,
for the sake of our children,
we ask You Lord to help us
stop the destruction of our home,
stop the forces which are violating your Creation!

Holy Spirit:
please give the parties in their sixth conference 9; 9; 9;
the willingness and inspiration 9; 9; 9;
to make binding obligations, 9; 9; 9;
in order to reduce
the ongoing threat to our earth’s climate.

Renew our hearts,
Renew our lives,
Renew the whole of Creation,
