The Evangelical Alliance Scotland, along with the Society Religion and Technology Project and Tearfund Scotland, wrote to the G8 leaders calling for action on Climate Change. The World Council of Churches (WCC) has written a letter to Prime Minister Blair of the UK, who will be chairing the G8 summit, urging the G8 to work for the equitable sharing of global resources. Churches around the UK planned to ring their bells on Thursday 7 July at 1345, to wake the G8 up to the fact that their countries account for 13 per cent of the world's population, but produce 45 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions. This was part of Friends of the Earth's climate alarm.
