Time of Creation - Season of Creation

Time of Creation, or with a different name Season of Creation starts on 1st September and goes until 4th October. It is a particular period of the year, in which are Christians of different confessions invited to celebrate the gift of Creation and our relation to it. Celebration of this Time and its place in the cycle of Christian prayers and worships was commended by the 3rd European Ecumenical Assembly in Sibiu 2007, which recommended that the period “be dedicated to prayer for the protection of Creation and the promotion of sustainable lifestyles that reverse our contribution to climate change”.

Thematic accent of this year is “the web of life: biodiversity as God’s blessing.” The ecumenical steering committee of the initiative Season of Creation, in which are represented Anglican, Orthodox, Protestant and Roman Catholic traditions prepared a joint resource encouraging to celebrate the Season of Creation. The initiative has been supported by a letter signed by Church leaders from different Church traditions. Material in different languages is available through the ECEN website, as well as the website of Season of Creation. ECEN has joint this initiative. You are invited to use the material, adapt it to your local situation and the most importantly to use Time for Creation as a special reminder of our thanksgiving for gift of creation and as a reminder our responsibility for creation.
